Example (fictional data)

A designer in Portugal formed a single-member LLC in Wyoming to take payments from US clients. During the year she paid the LLC's formation fees herself and moved money from the LLC account to her personal account. She answers the questionnaire in about fifteen minutes, reviews the prepared Form 5472 and pro forma 1120, approves them, and the filing goes to the IRS before the April deadline.

How it works

If you live outside the United States and own a US LLC on your own, the IRS expects a yearly filing even when the LLC had no income: Form 5472 attached to a pro forma Form 1120. The form reports the transactions between the LLC and its foreign owner — money you put in, money you took out, fees you paid for the company.

Many owners do not learn about this filing until after the first deadline has passed. The forms are written for accountants, the instructions are long, and the IRS penalty for a missed or incomplete filing runs into the tens of thousands of dollars.

The service turns the filing into a short questionnaire in plain English. You enter the LLC's details, your details as the owner, and the money that moved between you and the LLC during the tax year. Each question explains what it means and gives examples of the transactions that usually belong there.

From your answers, Form 5472 and the pro forma Form 1120 are prepared. You see both forms before anything is sent, with a short summary of what was reported and why, so you can check the numbers against your bank statements.

With the filing plan, the forms are sent to the IRS after you approve them, and you keep a copy and a record of the date of filing. With the preparation plan, you receive the completed forms and send them yourself.

Most foreign-owned single-member LLCs that file Form 5472 need the same few pieces of information every year. Your answers are kept, so next year the questionnaire starts from last year's data and asks only what changed.

Before the deadline of April 15 you get reminders, so the filing is not left for the last week. If something in your answers looks incomplete — a transfer without an amount, a missing date of formation — the questionnaire points it out before the forms are prepared.

If your LLC had more complex activity — employees, US-source income, several owners, or a change of ownership during the year — the questionnaire tells you that the simple case does not fit, before you pay.

The service is built for non-US residents who own a single-member US LLC: freelancers, online sellers, developers and consultants anywhere in the world. It is in preparation: we are checking whether LLC owners need it before it is built.

The service prepares and files the forms from the information you provide. It is not legal or tax advice, and the owner of the LLC remains responsible for the accuracy of the filing.
